Peter Dove | Country Director, DeBoer Fellowship

Peter Dove is co-founder and Executive Director of Imagine Thailand, a Bangkok-based social engagement organization that trains leaders to serve Southeast Asian communities impacted by political or environmental dislocation. However, he has experience throughout the world. After working in Eastern Europe, Central America and Africa, he relocated to Thailand in 2002. In Thailand, Peter and his wife founded Imagine Thailand in 2008. Through their work with Imagine Thailand, Peter continues to pursue his passion of partnering with adult learners engaged in community development. He and his family moved to Yangon Myanmar in 2012, where he is the Director of Studies at Yangon Institute of University Studies.

Peter holds Bachelor degrees from Summit Pacific College and the University of British Columbia, where he specialized in English literature and Intellectual History. He also earned an MA in Global Leadership from Fuller Seminary in Pasadena.

Kyaw Wai Yar Soe | Assistant Director, DeBoer Fellowship

Kyaw Wai Yar Soe was born in Hpa-an, Kayin State. After graduating from high school in Hpa-an, he moved to the United States to work and study. While there he attended DeKalb Technical College
and Georgia State University to study Accounting and Humanities.

In 2011, as Myanmar was taking transitional steps to reform Kyaw W. Soe came home to
Myanmar. With a desire to be a part of the change through humanitarian efforts at the community level, Kyaw W. Soe joined Norwegian Refugee Council to assist Internally Displace
Persons and refugees in Kayin State. Kyaw W. Soe started as Program Support Officer and was later promoted to Head of Office to oversee all NRC’s activities in Kayin State.

Kyaw W. Soe became a DeBoer Fellow in 2014 to improve his skills to promote his community, country and the citizens of Myanmar. He joined the DeBoer Fellowship staff full time in 2016.

Kyaw W. Soe is committed to advancing the leadership skills, communication tools and personal development of himself and others as resources to strengthen Myanmar for the future.

Fritz Kling | President, DeBoer Foundation, Inc.

Fritz Kling is the President of DeBoer Foundation, Inc., which for twenty five years has focused on serving vulnerable people and promoting leadership in Myanmar. He has over two decades of experience in nonprofit leadership.

Fritz served as the Director of Development at the University of Richmond, where he specialized in planned giving. In 2000, he assumed leadership of a family foundation which focused on developing nations. He is a member of the Burma Donors Forum. Fritz's career has taken him to more than forty countries, and he has written and spoken widely on global trends. He has founded several Richmond charities, and serves on several charitable Boards.

Fritz earned a BA from Duke University in Political Science. He attended the University of Richmond Law School, after which he practiced trust and estate law for several years.

Sandy Parr | Senior Associate, DeBoer Foundation, Inc.

Sandy Parr is a Senior Associate with the DeBoer Foundation, Inc. Sandy’s primary responsibilities are related to the design, development and implementation of the DeBoer Fellowship. She is passionate about building a lifelong learning community that focuses on serving others. Sandy has spent the majority of her career in business development with several international corporations. She is committed to giving back in her community through service in both nonprofit and educational segments.

Sandy earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Bachelor of Science in Communications from Kansas State University.

Kyle Sherman | Senior Associate, DeBoer Foundation, Inc.

Kyle Sherman is a Senior Associate with the DeBoer Foundation, Inc. where he helps make grants that provide innovative and life-changing solutions to people living in hard places around the world. Kyle is passionate about effective and thoughtful philanthropy, previously working as a Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania’s Center for High Impact Philanthropy, and before that, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Kyle received a BS in Biology from Davidson College, and he holds an MPH and MBA from Johns Hopkins University.
